Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay Carbon

Rocky Mountain is growing the Instinct Powerplay line-up by introducing three new models that feature a carbon front triangle. Using three different types of carbon, Rocky increased strength, stiffness, and impact resistance, all while decreasing the overall weight of the bike and grown its battery size to 672Wh.

Dyname 3.0 drive system

Designed in Canada, the Dyname 3.0 drive system is a sleek, lightweight, and powerful electric assist that pushes the boundaries of electric bikes. It’s compact, the low-mounted motor allows us to design electric mountain bikes to our suspension and handling standards—with proper geometry and ideal pivot placement. The system provides class-leading torque, ultra-quiet operation, instant power response, and super-fast charging.

Rocky Mountain developed its own drive system, to maintain the geometry, handling, and ride characteristics that its bikes are known for. Rocky Mountain feels other systems on the market today force frame designs to be compromised rather than seamlessly integrated. The Powerplay battery is stored within the downtube of the frames, and the drive system itself is tucked above the bottom bracket at the base of the seat tube.

The Dyname 3.0 drive system allows for an instant, natural power response that makes for an intuitive ride thanks to an in-line torque sensor. With this sensor, the power rolls on and rolls off smoothly, resulting in greater bike control from the rider. This means no more spinning out on climbs, you can soft-pedal technical sections or tight switchbacks, and an overall increased level of confidence as you approach and exit corners.

iWoc TRIO Remote

The iWoc TRIO is a sleek, compact, 3-button remote that is intuitive and easy to use. The intuitive pedal-assist and in-line torque sensor provide smooth, instant power response, making for a natural ride with no learning curve.

Battery and Charge time

The 48v system provides super short charge times, taking only two hours to reach 80% capacity of the available 632Wh lithium-ion battery.

From 0 to 80% charged: 2 hours 10 minutes
From 0 to 95% charged: 2 hours 55 minutes
From 0 to 100% charged: 3 hours 50 minutes

Instinct Powerplay Carbon Frame details

Designed with Rocky Mountains smooth wall carbon front triangle and FORM alloy rear triangle. Rocky Mountains RIDE-9 adjustment system allows riders to quickly fine-tune their geometry and suspension with a pair of Allen keys on the fly. All sizes are water bottle compatible however, smaller sizes will need to use the 2-bottle offside adapter provided. Standard PF92 bottom bracket is shop serviceable and easily replaceable The single-sided chainstay and seatstay pivots for a narrower rear triangle reduce heel rub, even with Boost spacing. Enduro MAX cartridge bearing pivots with simplified hardware along with shock-eyelet bearings for small-bump sensitivity. The Rocky Mountain Instinct frame is designed around 29×2.6 Maxxis Rekon EXO tires for efficient riding; compatible with 27.5+ tires. Clean and tidy oversized downtube ports add easy cable routing, with full-length internal dropper post routing and internal brake routing in the front triangle.
